SAVANNAH, Ga. (OS) — The Chatham County Board of Elections will require all poll workers to complete online training as the Secretary of State’s office announced it will open an investigation into reports of campaigning too close to polling places during the recent election.

Illegal campaigning was reported at eight precincts in the city and a photo surfaced of a man handing out campaign material right under a “vote  here” sign. The flyer contained photos and information about city council incumbents only.

The board also commented on confusion among voters following recent changes to precinct lines and other issues, but board chairman Tom Mahoney said that for the most part the Nov. 3 elections were a success because voters were allowed to vote for the candidate of their choice.
