CCSO deputy killed in accident identified

BRYAN COUNTY  – The Chatham County Sheriff’s deputy who died in a motor vehicle accident in Bryan County Wednesday has been identified as Richard Allen Hall, 45. Hall  was killed while on his way home. He was considered on-duty at the time of the accident because he had not officially ended his tour of duty. According to Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith, Hall was traveling west on U.S. Highway 280 just north of Interstate 16 in his patrol car when he attempted to make a u-turn and was struck by a Ford F-150. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident. Hall was assigned to Internal Affairs and was on call 24/7. Some of his former assignments include the sex offender registration team and patrol with the Chatham County Police. He was hired in April of 2001.
