Environmental subcommittee appointed for proposed Camden spaceport

WOODBINE — Newly appointed members of a subcommittee have been tasked with assessing the environmental concerns about a proposed spaceport in Camden County.

The site is an abandoned chemical plant in Woodbine.

Their appointments, approved Tuesday by the Camden County Commission, represent a cross section of organizations with a legitimate interest in how a spaceport could impact the region.
Camden County Administrator Steve Howard said the environmental subcommittee was the first appointed because of the many complexities surrounding some of the concerns about the project.
“I think it’s an important committee,” Howard said in a phone interview Wednesday. “I thought it was important to get this group going.”
