Former Savannah cop free on bond in overtime theft case

SAVANNAH – Former Savannah-Chatham police Cpl. Daryle McCormick has been was allowed to remain free under a $25,000 bond pending trial on charges he stole nearly $20,000 from the federal government in bogus overtime claims. U.S. Magistrate Judge Brian Epps accepted a not guilty plea during an initial appearance in federal court in Dublin where McCormick appeared with his attorney, Page Pate of Atlanta. According to court documents filed Friday, McCormick waived indictment and agreed to proceed under a criminal information for theft of government money.
