Georgia Regents drops name nobody wanted

AUGUSTA – Georgia Regents University is now Augusta University. The Board of Regents voted unanimously Tuesday to change the name to satisfy local residents who wanted the name of the city in the school’s moniker. Chancellor Hank Huckaby said Augusta civic leaders promised to raise funds to pay for the sign changes. University President Brooks Keel said after the quick vote that since taking office in July that he thought the change was necessary in order to get community support.
