Intruder sets fire to home after she’s locked out

bulloch badgeSTATESBORO – An intruder in a Statesboro woman’s house broke several plates when she was discovered then fled outside where she tried to set the house on fire.

Jennifer Stansbury,  36, of Waters Cemetery Road, was located and later arrested by deputies. She remains in the Bulloch County jail without bond and charged with first-degree arson burglary.

BCSO patrol deputies responded to the residence in the 500 block of Josh Smith Road for a report of burglary and arson.

The complainant said she returned to her residence and found the other female inside. When confronted, the intruder shattered several plates inside the home and fled outside.

And when the homeowner locked the interloper out of the house, she watched as the offender set fire to the back porch of the house.

The homeowner called her boyfriend who returned to the residence and helped extinguish the fire.
