mayo waycrossWAYCROSS, Ga. — Mayo Clinic in Florida will end an agreement with Satilla Health Services and return governance of the Waycross hospital to local control, Mayo announced Friday. Under an agreement signed in March 2012, Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross was created to operate the 231-bed hospital and related businesses. The decision to end its integration with the Waycross hospital is based on Mayo’s shift to a focus on expanding specialty treatment for those with complex health conditions, Mayo said in the release. As it focuses on developing a destination medical center for patients throughout the Southeast and across the country, Mayo will concentrate on building relationships with other providers through affiliation rather than acquisitions, the company said.
