Moss will remain as Beaufort superintendent

superBEAUFORT, S.C. – Jeff Moss will remain superintendent of Beaufort County schools but only after his wife resigned from a $70,000 job some say he created for her.

Darlene Moss was hired as director of innovation shortly after her husband took over as superintendent, much to the chagrin of some school board members.

Those feelings came to a boil last week and a hearing was set for Monday night to discuss the issue but in the meantime  Mrs.  Moss resigned and at a hearing held Monday the board decided to allow Moss to continue as superintendent.

Reports indicate that Moss had a history of hiring his wife in the last three counties he worked.
