rhythmThe first Rhythm & Brews Fest will be held at Jekyll Island Oct. 17 featuring local bands and beer.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., both hotel guests and locals will have a chance to eat and drink the flavors of Fall. Craft breweries include Eagle Creek, Jekyll Brewing, Monday Night Brewing, Red Hare, and Southern Tier; and beers are offered for tasting, with many available on tap. Those beer geeks that are looking to get hands-on can take the beer-making class taught by Golden Isles Brew Supply. Food options are reminiscent of backyard barbecue, with pulled pork, Brunswick stew, hot dogs, hamburgers and brats.

Football fans can stake out a spot in front of the big screen to watch the Georgia versus Missouri game. In between the action, listen to live and local bands, including dance jam remixes by DJ Whitebread, St. Simons Island’s soul and funk group DeFunk Yo Soul, the folk acoustic sounds of Don Drury, in addition to others.

The Kid’s Zone features activities to engage the little ones created by the resort’s own Activities Director including a costume contest, bounce house, pumpkin decorating, face painting, and more.

Holiday Inn Resort at Jekyll Island underwent a $22 million re-build in March and emerged with a modern, new look. The 157-room beachfront hotel provides 21 suites, which are perfect for families, and most of the resort’s rooms feature ocean views.

“For Golden Isles residents, this may be your best opportunity to experience an overnight visit at the beautifully transformed Holiday Inn Resort,” said General Manager Jason Smith. “But you do not have to spend the night to enjoy the festivities, we encourage everyone to come even if it’s just for the day.”
