SAVANNAH – The proposed ordinance to require spay and neutering for cats and dogs in Savannah is now off the table. Over the summer, Animal Control made several recommendations to the city’s animal ordinance, which included making it mandatory for all cats and dogs to be spayed and neutered. The purpose was to reduce the amount of unwanted animals in the city. A lot of folks were unhappy about this proposal, including the Savannah Humane Society. They said it was a bad idea, right now, because there are no low-cost options to spay and neuter in the area.
