New York cops arrest suspect on Savannah home invasion charges

suspect nypdSAVANNAH, Ga. (OS) — The New York Police Department has arrested a Savannah man in Brooklyn wanted for a home invasion in Savannah.

Bill Lee, 31, was arrested without incident Saturday night. He was wanted for a home Invasion near W. Park Avenue and Jefferson Street which occurred on August 30.

Lee will be held in New York’s Central Booking until he is extradited to Chatham County where he faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and burglary.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police investigators had obtained warrants for Lee’s arrest.

At about 2 a.m. on Aug. 30 an armed intruder fitting Lee’s description entered a Savannah residence, confronting one male and one female occupant. A scuffle ensued between the male victim and the intruder. The suspect may have been injured with a knife.  The intruder fired his gun, but no one was hit.

The male victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries from fighting the intruder.  The female victim was not hurt.  Both victims ran to a neighbor’s house for help and the intruder fled.
