Savannah man convicted of murder in St. Patrick’s Day eastside ambush slaying

James Harris_FBA Savannah man was convicted Tuesday of murder and assault charges in the St. Patrick’s Day 2014 ambush that left one man dead and the gunman’s target wounded. James Samuel “Sambo” Harris Jr., 30, was convicted in the death of Barry Trevon Williams, 24, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the back of his head in a spray of six gunshots fired from a 9 mm weapon at Mississippi and Ohio avenues on Savannah’s eastside. The Chatham County Superior Court jury also convicted Harris on an aggravated assault charge in the non-fatal shooting of Williams’ companion, Dominique Ellison, 27, who was struck by five gunshots, two of which grazed his head, in the same shooting.
