SAVANNAH – If you’re in the market for dozens of sharp point drywall screws, Christmas lights, cookware, window shades or even a hamster cage, get to Thrifty Supply Center before the end of the month. The longtime Savannah hardware store at 340 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. is shutting its doors Sept. 30 after almost 60 years in business.Owners Tony and Carol Chen bought the building in 1997, and over time the husband and wife duo acquired the entire block except for Kustom Hustle Tattoo, which is a couple doors down from Thrifty. The Chens recently sold the spaces to a South Carolina developer.
