SAVANNAHSHOOTINGSSAVANNAH – Witnesses willing to talk to police led officers to a quick arrest in an apparent retaliatory shooting at City Market early Sunday which resulted in one fatality.

Metro police were called to West Congress Street at about 2:20 a.m. where witnesses provided information that led officers to Joseph Heyward, 26, who was charged with the shooting of Frank Wilson, 24, after he admitted that he targeted Wilson specifically.

Wilson was taken to a local medical facility in critical condition but he died a few hours later and charges against him were elevated to one count of murder, according to officials.

Officials believe the shooting resulted from bad feelings between the families of the two men, both of Savannah, and previous violence between the two.
